About St Mark's Church Hall
St Mark's Church Hall, located at the junction of Guildford Road East and Alexandra Road, is a multi-use venue, purpose-built complex fully refurbished in 2006. Offering up to 15 parking spaces, with additional on-road parking nearby, the hall is well-suited to a wide range of activities, including dance, sport, music, and movement for all ages, as well as serving local groups such as the U3A and many others.
Please note: We can no longer cater to one-off events like family celebrations.
Church Hall Details
The Main Hall is equipped with a PA system and a curtained stage, flexible seating and tables, dressing rooms, and a large mirror for dance classes and rehearsals.
In addition to the Main Hall, there are two spacious meeting rooms: the Wallis Room and the Probart Lounge. Both are well-suited to meetings and activities for smaller groups and have ample tables and chairs. The Wallis Room also has a small kitchenette for making tea and coffee (supplied by the hirer).
The complex is equipped with a professional-standard kitchen, which includes a range cooker and a fridge-freezer for preparing and serving a multi-course meal or just light refreshments. There is a supply of cups and saucers (the hirer must bring other cooking utensils, crockery, and cutlery).
Please note: Hirers of the Main Hall are also required to hire the kitchen.
The building has full disabled access and a specially adapted toilet with baby-changing facilities.

Main Hall
- Dimensions: 9m x 16m
- Seating Styles: Theatre - 200 approx. Seated at Long tables (i.e. joined together) 150 approx. Seated around tables (which seat 8 each) 120 approx.
Wallis Room
- Dimensions: 5m x 7m
- Seating Styles: Theatre 30 approx. With tables 24 approx.
Probart Lounge
- Dimensions: 4.5m x 6.5m
- Seating Styles: Similar to Wallis Room. Please Note: This room is slightly smaller than the Wallis Room, so treat the numbers quoted as recommended maximums.
Hiring the Hall
The Hall is available for public hire Monday through Saturday (8 a.m. - 11 p.m.) and Sunday (1 p.m. - 11 p.m.). Depending on your needs, you can hire individual rooms or the entire complex.
- Hourly rates are based on the size and number of rooms you book.
- Be sure to include time for set-up and clean-up in your booking, as you will be charged for the entire time you occupy the building.
- Discounts are available for registered charities and uniformed youth organisations (ID required).
- Booking Deposit: A 10% deposit is required to secure your booking, with the balance due by the event date.
- Payment should be made via cheque and payable to "St. Mark's PCC".
