Angel Yarning

We are looking for keen Knitters to go … ANGEL YARNING!

Do you fancy joining us?

Along with many other churches in this area – and headed up by our friends at North Camp Methodist Church – we are, following previous years' success, once again being invited to join in with a Grand Knitting Campaign in time for CHRISTMAS.

We are being encouraged to KNIT ANGELS, and once knitted, join in with distributing them throughout our area in lots of innovative ways.  Last year, the target of 3000+ was reached ... this year, we are setting our sights on 4000!  Can you help?

The aim of the project is to leave the ANGELS in places all over the community as tokens of love and as a gift for Christmas to any who want to pick them up, offering a reminder of the tremendous gift of the CHRIST CHILD, brought to our world by the Word of the Angels.

We make them – we distribute them – others find them – others keep them

So, we need KNITTERS!

The pattern is below, and you can use your imagination with colour and variety!  Many churches are already in full swing, so do join in. [see 2019 footnote below for additional comment]

David Betts (at the Methodist Church, contact: 01252-328959) is co-ordinating the project, so all will radiate from there in due course – but for now, START KNITTING … and THANKS.

Each angel will have a Christmas message attached to them (details to follow) – and all will serve as a symbol of blessing for whoever finds them.

When they are all ready, we shall be collecting them together at a special Dedication Service, to be held at the North Camp Methodist Church, on Thursday 5 December, at 7.00pm; and later, a date when volunteers will then go out (in an evening, under the cover of darkness!) and place the ANGELS all over the area, for people to find when they wake up the next day.  Could be tied to a garden-gate, a lamp-post, a bus shelter, in a shop doorway, down on the railway platform … who knows?  God's love, after all, spreads everywhere.

2019 Footnote: because St. Mark's is holding its "Christmas Tree" Festival, our involvement in this 'Angel' project will potentially be a little less than previous years, due to our limited resources.  We wish the project a huge success - and look forward to joining in with full gusto next time!
